Hi. Rosen’s book, Life Itself, is superb. But/and does Rosen solve the problem of the emergence of non-deducible new affordances? In short, is there a sense in which the evolution of the biosphere is mathematizable? I may have stumbled upon one approach linking the TAP theory and the emergence of autocatalytic sets. Somehow this seems to be a theory of sufficient, but not necessary conditions. This cannot be used in the Aristotelian framework of the law of the Excluded Middle and Non Contradiction. But it can be used if “possibilities” are allowed, eg  “Possible uses of X”.
