I think there must be some minimal conscious aspect via-à-vis adaption. For
example, all agents(?) must adapt to shifting environs in order to
'maintain an identity' as an agent. Conversely, an oxygen atom, etc. has no
similar adaptive aspect, in preserving an identity, but instead is a
constituent of the environ an agent must adapt to. Understanding this
adaptive difference is minimal in grasping consciousness, no?
