Dear Joseph,
Thank you very much for mentioning Augustin Berque.
I will note that he himself says: “...reality is based on the concrete
ternary “subject/interpretation/object”. It thus breaks with mechanistic
determinism ...”
Several times in the FIS list I have pointed out that the use of the binary
paradigm is a consequence of the concreteness of the moment, but it is not
a universal model. At least because we “interpret” (AB) the reflections
received in our temporary memory and their recognition is not
mathematically accurate, but incomplete and conditioned by the specific
context. This determines at least three quantities - Yes, No, Unknown, i.e.
ternary logic.
In other words, the binary model and logic are convenient for the
implementation of computing devices, but they do not correspond to the
results obtained by modern science about humans and consciousness.
We do not think binary!
Whether ternary logic is everything remains to be seen by future research.
But it is very useful for implementing artificial intelligence systems.
Verified by my own developments, which I wrote about in my previous post.
With respect,
Krassimir
