Dear Kate,
It seems to me that there is another metaphor that would be better for
modeling emotions and rational thinking at the same time.
I will remind you of the existence of a mathematical structure that may
work for you.
This is the interval [-1,1] .
There are only three integers in this interval: -1, 0 and 1, i.e. "No", "I
don't know" and "Yes".
"-1" corresponds to Yin, "1" to Yang, while "0" separates the two infinite
sets of negative and positive real numbers that open the way for negative
and positive emotions.
