Dear Distinguished Scholars,
 



    This is the International Research Center for Philosophy of Information.
 



    In accordance with the plans of International Society for Information Studies (IS4IS) and multi-national universities and institutions, the 2nd IS4IS Summit will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden on June 12-16, 2017, which incorporates the 7th Conference of Foundations of Information Science (FIS) and the 3rd International Conference on Philosophy of Information (ICPI). This notice calls for papers and participations exclusively for the 3rd ICPI.




    Previous ICPI conferences were held in Xi’an, China on October 2013, and Vienna, Austria on June 2016. These conferences brought together scientists and philosophers in the academic field and industry from all over the world, and have achieved fruitful results. Currently, the ICPI is a biennial conference and has been incorporated into the IS4IS Summits jointly organized by IS4IS and related multi-national universities and institutions since the 2nd ICPI. The 3rd IS4IS Summit will be held at the University of California, Berkeley in 2019, as well as the 4th ICPI.




    Since the 2nd International Conference on Philosophy of Information (ICPI), the world has witnessed further development of studies in the area of the Philosophy of Information. Based on that, we present the theme and topics of the 3rd ICPI, as well as certain research topics in related fields, as the basis for this Call for Papers and invitation to you to participate in the Conference. 
 



Overall Theme

    The Philosophical Spirit of the Information Era: the philosophical foundation and development prospects for Information Science and Technology, an Information Economy, an Information Society and an Information Ecology.




Scope and Topics:
 
1.     Basic theoretical studies on the Philosophy of Information.
 
2.     Studies on the relationship between the scientific revolution, technological revolution, engineering revolution and philosophical revolution brought about by the contemporary information paradigm shift.
 
3.     Studies on the administration and education of the Philosophy of Information. 
 
4.     Studies on the philosophy of an information economy and of information society. 
 
5.     Basic philosophical studies on information-ecological civilization. 
 
6.     Comparative study of the Philosophy of Information and other kinds of philosophy.
 
7.     Cross-disciplinary studies of related issues of Philosophy of Information and specific scientific fields.
