Description
The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Department
of Pathobiology welcomes applications for a full time, Anatomic
Pathologist at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on the
Academic Clinician (AC) track at New Bolton Center, Kennett Square, PA.
The successful applicant will join our collaborative team of
pathologists and highly skilled technical staff dedicated to the pursuit
of diagnostic excellence. Responsibilities of this position include
meeting the service needs of the Anatomic Pathology Section of the
Diagnostic Service, which annually performs between 900-1000 autopsies
and ~500 biopsies submitted internally from New Bolton Center clinicians
and externally from veterinarians, producers and owners representing the
PA Commonwealth and surrounding states. The autopsy service sees a wide
variety of species, including horses, cattle, small ruminants, swine,
camelids, companion animals, wildlife, and occasional exotics. In
addition to the diagnostic caseload, the autopsy service contributes to
infectious disease surveillance and regulatory programs that serve the
PA Department of Agriculture and USDA/APHIS, as well as veterinary
forensics that serve regional law enforcement agencies and animal
welfare organizations. The successful candidate will also
enthusiastically participate in didactic, laboratory, and clinical
training of veterinary students and residents/house officers within the
School of Veterinary Medicine across both the New Bolton Center and
Philadelphia campuses. There is opportunity to pursue scholarly activity
in a clinical setting and developing an area of interest/expertise is
encouraged, but conducting research is not a requirement of the
position. The successful candidate will enjoy a wealth of opportunities

busy academic teaching hospital.
The successful applicant will join the Pathology Faculty at New Bolton
Center, which includes 4 ACVP diplomates with expertise in large animal,
forensic, and wildlife pathology. The highly valued New Bolton Center
Pathology team provides integral services for the New Bolton Center
Hospital’s diverse clinical and research caseload. The successful
candidate will work closely with New Bolton Center’s world-class
clinicians, providing unique opportunities for collaboration, passionate
discussions, and extra-departmental mentorship.
New Bolton Center Faculty also work closely with other members of the
Department of Pathobiology, including multiple board-certified
microbiologists, clinical pathologists, a parasitologist, and a
toxicologist who are committed to a team-based approach to providing
top-tier diagnostic services. Anatomic pathologists within the
Department of Pathobiology have expertise including dermatopathology,
osteopathology, neuropathology, ocular pathology, and comparative
pathology, with ample opportunity for consultations and collaborations
across the New Bolton Center and Philadelphia campuses. Additional

Qualifications
Qualifications for this position are a VMD/DVM or equivalent degree,
board certification (or eligibility for certification) by the American
or European Colleges of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP or ECVP) and
diagnostic experience in domestic animal pathology, particularly large
animal species. Interfacing with researchers, clinicians, veterinary
students, and stakeholders in agriculture across the PA Commonwealth
will be routine. The position will require exceptional interpersonal,
written and verbal communication skills; a team-work mentality is
