<p>I reproduce below a couple of messages informing about the death
of our esteemed FIS Colleague, Gyorgy Darvas, who posted in our
discussions as Gyuri. He realized an important work in different
scientific societies, remarkably focusing on Symmetry. I had the
opportunity of collaborating with him in the organization of
several meetings and conference sections. Apart from his
scientific merit, he was a nice and affable person. Our personal
and collective condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.</p>

symmetry affairs (including you), and Gyuri himself was a

Dear Friends,
Today I received a letter from Aniko Darvas (<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:aniko.darvas@gmail.com">aniko.darvas@gmail.com</a> ), daughter of Gyorgy Darvas, in which she reported the death of her father on December 18 during heart surgery. This is very sad news for all of us!
Gyorgy was not only a wonderful scientist and our close friend, but also a long-time leader and main organizer of our International Symmetry Association for decades. All the activities of our Association, the journal "Symmetry: Culture and Science", the Symmetrion Institute, numerous systematic Symmetry Festivals in different countries and much more bore and bear the stamp of his scientific and organizational talent, his passion for the multifaceted problems of symmetrology, his conviction in the fundamental significance of the theory of symmetries and its applications. We need to continue our joint scientific movement in line with thoughts and dreams by Gyorgy!
The blessed memory of Gyorgy will remain in our hearts and thoughts!
