and Fall of the Roman Empire </span></i>in which the key exemplar is Caligula. In
CNN today, Republicans are perfectly (<i><span style='font-style:italic'>sic</span></i>)
aware that Trump did what he is accused of; they just don’t care, and
pretend the contrary. According to Gibbon, “Caligula, at an early age,
put on the mask of hypocrisy and never after that took it off.” Any reference
to current events, and petty tyrants like Caligula, is entirely intentional. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
